A1GP: Team Great Britain Silverstone test, day two

SUCCESSFUL SILVERSTONE TEST FOR A1 TEAM GBR

Silverstone, UK, 4th August The second of the two day tests saw A1 Team Great Britain upping the pace as the team, driver and car became more closely acquainted. The team clocked up over 140 laps of the circuit with dry conditions throughout while successfully climbing the first steep part of the A1 Series learning curve.

Team Principal, John Surtees, was delighted with both the series and the team. "I think the overall series showing has been excellent. It's brought together teams, individuals and nations together for the first time. The times are close and there's more to come. In terms of A1 GBR we're gradually putting the pieces together -- the car, team and individual drivers. It has been and excellent opportunity to work as one. We still have a lot of answers to find and things to be put in place. We'll go back and analyse what happened here. We'll prepare a list to take to the next test at Paul Ricard. Our plan was to run here with one driver to keep that factor a constant. For Paul Ricard we'll give Alex a run and that will give us the opportunity to look at the variables the driver makes and we can develop the car further. The important thing is to get off on the right note at Brands Hatch and that's going to be down to getting the details right."

Driver Robbie Kerr was enthusiastic about the progress over the test. "We've learnt a lot -- gone the right way, the wrong way and the right way again. There's a lot to think about. When we roll out next time we'll know from here where there's potential. Personally it's been really good -- I've enjoyed it. It's good to get back in the seat and I'm looking forward to the season."
