A1 TEAM AUSTRALIA SETTING FOR STRONG QUALIFYING TOMORROW IN DUBAI

DUBAI, U.A.E -- Friday, December 9: A1 Team Australia continued their A1 Grand Prix tour of the world today in Dubai, confident that a top qualifying position tomorrow will bring with it results come Sunday.

Will Davison will complete the bulk of the driving at the spectacular 5.39 kilometre Dubai Autodrome, however Christian Jones began proceedings for the Australian team today in two additionally scheduled practice sessions, but a radio problem cut short his run.

"The car felt good, it's just a shame that we had the slight problem with the radio that held us up," Jones lamented.

Davison, though, is confident of recording a good qualifying position, particularly after the disappointment of the previous round in Malaysia, where the fickle weather dealt a cruel blow to the Australian team.

"I can't wait to put a good qualifying performance together this weekend, I was very disappointed with our position in Malaysia, especially after looking so good in practice," Davison said. "I am sure if I can start near the front, I will be able to show how good the car really is."

A1 Team Australia Team Principal, Alan Jones, is expecting good results this weekend and believes the Foster's supported Australian car can advance up The World Cup of Motorsport ladder.

"The track looks good and we are expecting a good performance this weekend," said Jones. "Both drivers have prepared well and the extra practice sessions today will help them to come to grips with the track."

Jones places a great deal of importance on setting a strong qualifying position in Saturday's qualifying session, which begins at 14:15 local time (21:15 AEDT):

"If we can just get a good qualifying position we have a good chance of finishing near the pointy end of the field. The car was very quick at Sepang and we expect to carry that speed here in Dubai," Jones concluded.

Davison's best time of 1:47.7 was just over a second behind the fastest time set by Frenchman, Nicolas Lapierre and the team are expecting more speed from the car when it hits the track for qualifying on Saturday.
