Summerton wins Driver of the Day
A1 Team USA's Jonathan Summerton has won A1GP.com's Driver of the Day award for Shanghai.
The 20-year-old, who became the USA's most capped driver at that meeting, took the nation's maiden race victory with a dominant display in the Feature race.
A new voting system helped a record number of votes to be cast for the regular poll, with Summerton just edging the vote by three per cent.
Summerton beat Portugal's Filipe Albuquerque, who scored Portugal's first ever double podium at an A1GP meeting. Following such a performance, Albuquerque is tipped by many in the paddock to be the next driver to help his nation break its A1GP-victory duck.
Neel Jani, who won the award last time out in Mexico, was third. He was nominated for his Sprint race victory and drive to fifth in the Feature race with a broken gearbox. Alex Yoong, having his best weekend of the season, was fourth in the vote.
A1GP Shanghai, China: Driver of the Day vote
30.7% Jonathan Summerton (A1 Team USA)
28.6% Filipe Albuquerque (A1 Team Portugal)
23.9% Neel Jani (A1 Team Switzerland)
16.8% Alex Yoong (A1 Team Malaysia)
