KELLY BROTHERS ITCHING TO HIT GOLD COAST FOR NIKON SUPERGP

Brothers Todd and Rick Kelly are itching to bring their new V8 Supercar team to the Nikon SuperGP on the Gold Coast over October 22-25.

The Melbourne-based duo are racing together as full-time team-mates for the first time this season, suiting up for Jack Daniel's Racing in Queensland's biggest sporting event which will be headlined by the V8 Supercars and A1GP World Cup of Motorsport.

"Heading to Surfers each year has become a V8 tradition in itself," said Todd Kelly.

"Each season the Gold Coast event is two weeks after Bathurst and after the long Victorian winter, it's always nice to head up to Queensland and soak up some sunshine.

"This year it will be even more exciting. As we've established our own new team this season, it's been a very busy year, so most of our time has been spent in the workshop.

"It will be a welcome change to be right there next to the beach in Surfers."

While Todd Kelly was the overall winner of the V8 Supercar event on the Gold Coast in 2006, younger brother Rick is yet to win a coveted winner's surfboard from the event, which has become renowned on the V8 Supercar circuit for its unique trophies.

"Todd and I were on the podium together in 2006 when he won and I was third," said Rick Kelly.

"So we both won a surfboard that year but you don't really want to hang up a third place trophy on your wall.

"In March we opened a spectacular new facility for our new team and Todd and I both work here full-time and have our offices here.

"I've already picked out the wall where I think a first place surfboard would look pretty cool. Mounting it will be the easy part -- winning one will be the hard part -- but our team is coming along nicely so it's certainly a possibility for Jack Daniel's Racing this October."

There are now 21 days remaining until the Nikon SuperGP kicks off on October 22-25.

The 2009 Nikon SuperGP will host Event 11 of the V8 Supercar Championship Series and the first round of the 2009/10 A1GP World Cup of Motorsport.
