AUSSIE MUSIC TO ROCK NIKON SUPERGP

Aussie Rock legends The Choirboys to be joined by break-out new act Cassie Davis, as well Brisbane's Dozzi sisters and the Gold Coast's Katey Aspeling for the pre-race entertainment, while a massive line-up rocks the Sea FM stage over the entire four days of the event.

Some of the Australian music industry's oldest and newest stars will come together to make music for the event-goers of the 2009 Nikon SuperGP over October 22-25.

Break-out Australian act, Cassie Davis (singer of 'Like it Loud', 'Differently' and 'Do it Again') will be sharing the Nikon SuperGP stage with legendary Aussie band The Choirboys -- best known for their time-honoured hit 'Run to Paradise' and who are celebrating their 30th anniversary since forming in 1979.

Davis will headline Saturday's V8 Supercar Challenge pre-race entertainment performing on the podium stage while 19 year old Gold Coaster Katey Aspeling will be singing the national anthem from the front of the grid.

The Choirboys will be jump-starting the A1GP Feature Race on Sunday with a performance on the winners podium followed by Brisbane trio Dozzi, performing a stirring rendition of the anthem in harmony.

Music fans can also hear more of Davis and the Dozzi sisters as they perform special sets across the weekend at the event's entertainment and music hub - the Sea FM Stage.

They will be joined by bands such as Melbourne synth-rock act The Galvatrons ('Cassandra' and 'Donnie's on TV'), Sydney's rock outfits Amy Meredith ('Pornstar') and Stone Parade ('Somebody will miss you' and 'My Generation'), as well as the Gold Coast's own 2009 Australian Idol Top 12 contestant Casey Barnes.

A home-grown talent from Western Australia, Davis has proven herself early as a singer, song-writer and producer and along with her sister has set up 12 stones, their own record label, which released, through Sony Music Entertainment, the 23 year-old's debut album 'Differently' in August of this year.

"I am really excited to be taking to the stage at the Nikon SuperGP both in the pre-race entertainment and on the Sea FM stage over the weekend -- I hear the fans at the event are really enthusiastic and I can't wait to rock out with my band," said Davis.

"Things are such a whirlwind at the moment and I'm really looking forward to taking time out to play for all the fans on the Gold Coast - let's hope they like it loud!"

After 30 years in the Australian music industry The Choirboys are without doubt Aussie legends, and with their hit 'Run to Paradise' from the 80s still getting airplay today, the band are sure to be a popular hit on race day and also at their special off-track gig Saturday evening at the Hard Rock Cafe.

"I am not just a fan of things that go fast, and trust me I love fast cars, but I am also a huge fan of Nikon and have been ever since the 70s when I owned my first two Nikon cameras," said band frontman Mark Gable.

"The Choirboys are very excited to be a part of the Nikon SuperGP, as this kind of event helps to bring Australia and The Choirboys onto the world stage - the whole weekend is going to kick ass!"

Aspiring to the success of Davis and the Choirboys are Brisbane's Dozzi Sisters and the Gold Coast's Katey Aspeling, who will sing the anthems over the weekend.

Described as a mix of Taylor Swift and the Dixie Chicks, the three young sisters, Andrea (vocals), Jessie (vocals and guitar) and Nina (vocals and keyboard) have been writing and performing together for nine years as they grow their style of commercial pop with a country twang.

"The Nikon SuperGP is an event that is seen all across the world, and we are so proud as an Australian band to be able to perform the anthem on this international stage," said Andrea Dozzi.

"As local girls with aspirations to grow our music internationally in the next 12 months, we couldn't be more excited than to play to an audience as large and as diverse as what the Nikon SuperGP traditionally attracts."

Nineteen year old Aspeling moved to the Gold Coast from Sydney with her family at the age of five, and will fly the flag for her adopted home town as she sings the anthem on Saturday and takes to the stage over the weekend.

"As a local singer looking for that recognition, it is really exciting to be playing at our iconic event -- the Nikon SuperGP, and I just can't wait to get out there and do the Gold Coast proud," said Aspeling.

Nikon SuperGP Entertainment and Events Manager Josh Martin said the live music program is a fantastic addition to the four days of non-stop racing action and is bound to captivate crowds of all ages and tastes.

"The 2009 entertainment program is shaping up to be one of the best yet with an impressive line-up of great Australian bands and local musical talent which will be more than enough to satisfy the appetite of live music lovers." said Martin.

"Pop sensation Cassie Davis and Aussie rock legends The Choirboys are the perfect ensemble to showcase this world class motorsport event -- I'm very excited by the diversity and calibre of this years artists and am confident they will deliver outstanding performances."
