Jones content after first A1 Grand Prix test

There were 15 teams on hand for the historic event and the identical nature of the A1 Grand Prix componentry has been reflected in the times recorded - only around two seconds separates the majority of the field.

From an Australian angle, Christian Jones was behind the wheel and completed 52 laps. He finished just 1.2 seconds from the fastest car on the track - the British entry - an outstanding effort considering the amount of seat-time Christian has had this year compared to his fellow A1 test pilots, which included Nelson Piquet Jnr, Pedro Lamy, Jos Verstappen, Tomas Scheckter and Alex Yoong to name a few.

A1 Team Australia's seat holder - Alan Jones - reported the car was perfect and there were no major glitches, leaving the team satisfied with their effort. The team, led by Alan Docking Racing, was using the first session as an opportunity to bed everything in and get Christian comfortable in the car.
