A1 TEAM MALAYSIA TO STAR IN PLUS ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN
A1 Team Malaysia members turned their hand to the art of acting last week, shooting a public service announcement advertisement for one of the team's commercial partners, PLUS Expressways.
Fairuz Fauzy and Aaron Lim were the central personalities in the advertisements, with each of them being used to convey key road safety messages thus linking their roles as A1 Team Malaysia drivers within the safety theme of the advertisements.
Azrai Razuan, Key Account Manager with A1 Team Malaysia was extensively involved in the production logistics and was able to provide solutions for a number of key elements required during filming. Razuan is also a highly experienced motorist and his road driving skills were used within the advertisement.
For the project the team secured the services of major commercial partner Proton, with the production featuring a number of Proton cars and the use of the Proton R3 facility.
The advertisement was filmed over the course of three days, with the drivers scenes filmed in the first of the three days. Both wore their A1 Team Malaysia team uniform and featured in the filming sequences as well as having significant speaking roles.
Fauzy said of his filming experience, "I'm into speed and a fast paced life, so this was a completely new experience for me. There was a lot of time spent waiting to go on set and repeating the filming extensively to make sure that everything was perfect. I enjoyed having an insight to this different world, which is just as meticulous and exacting as being a part of a racing team of the calibre of ours, but just at a completely different pace!"
Lim added, "I'm very proud to be part of these public service announcements as they are very important for young motorists. However, I'm not sure that I am cut out to be an actor. You need plenty of patience and it's harder than it looks to deliver your lines exactly right, but it was a great experience. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished commercials."
Razuan sums up his filming debut, "It's been great fun and a privilege to be involved with this project. The messages are very important. If we as a team, with Fairuz and Aaron as role models, help our commercial partner PLUS Expressways to convey these in a way in which motorists will take notice of and act on them, then it will have been a very successful collaboration."
The public service announcements are currently in the post-production stage. They will be aired on Malaysian national television later this year.
