AJR Statement on Infineon Win
Portland, Oregon - "There seems to be some confusion over the circumstances surrounding our victory at Infineon Raceway last weekend," said Alex Job, team owner of Alex Job Racing. "We noticed that the Flying Lizard car number 45 had pitted and then made it out in front of the overall race leader and thus put the entire GT field a lap down.
We applauded them at the time for making what seemed to be a brilliant strategic call. Upon further review by our own scoring staff and other observers in pit lane we understood that they simply drove through the pits and did not perform the required stop and shut off engine procedure that the rules require.
At the end of the race I took the opportunity, before the results were final, to inquire with the IMSA officials to make sure that they did in fact perform a stop. I did NOT file a formal protest. As it turned out the IMSA officials were into the inquiry already.
We are in the midst of tight points battle in a GT field that is more competitive than we have seen in years. I am responsible to my team, drivers and sponsors for making every effort to manage a professional team within the rules set forth by IMSA and the ACO."
