The American Le Mans Series has expanded its staff with the addition of three veterans of the motorsports industry.

Joining the staff of the sports car endurance racing series are Melissa Grunnah, Director of Promotions; Andy Hall, Director of Media & Communications; and Tim Pendergast, Director of Operations. The appointments were announced by Scott Atherton, President and COO of the Panoz Motor Sports Group, which includes the ALMS, and ALMS Executive Director Bill Donaldson.

Grunnah, 34, comes to the ALMS from Street & Smith's Sports Group in Charlotte, N.C., where she was National Sales Manager and sold print advertising for three motorsports publications: On Track, Winston Cup Scene and Winston Cup Illustrated. A native of Chicago, she is a graduate of DePauw University in Indiana and started her career in marketing and promotions for Marchetti Special Events in Chicago, which included working with the Chicago Historic Races at Road America.

She also worked in sales and marketing for a picture frame molding company, and later for a Chicago radio station, and assisted the board of directors for the Vintage Sports Car Driver's Association in Chicago. Prior to joining Street & Smith's, she co-operated an automobile dealership in Colorado.

Grunnah is working out of the Panoz Motor Sports Group offices in Braselton, Ga., and her duties include management of all event and series promotions. She will work closely with Gill Campbell, ALMS Event Promotions Coordinator, and can be reached via email at mgrunnah@panozmotorsports.com.

Hall, 42, joined the ALMS in August of 2000 on a contract basis and began fulltime duties on Jan. 1. He is responsible for all series media and communications services.

A 20-year veteran of motorsports, Hall was a sportswriter for a Virginia newspaper before joining the public relations department of NASCAR in 1982. He was with the stock car racing organization for 15 years and was Director of Public Relations for six years. Prior to joining the ALMS, Hall worked in marketing and administration for the Indy Racing League from 1998 until 2000.

Hall and his wife, Barbara, live in Carmel, Ind., with their two children, and he works out of the ALMS office in Indianapolis. He is a graduate of James Madison University in Virginia and can be reached via email at andy@4pmg.com.

Pendergast, 29, is responsible for the management of all ALMS operational functions at events and will also handle many aspects of the operation of the new Historic IMSA GTP Series that will hold races as support events to selected ALMS races. He works out of the ALMS office in Indianapolis and can be reached via email at tim@4pmg.com.

A Tampa, Fla., native, Pendergast comes to the ALMS from Historic Sports Car Racing, where he was Director of Special Event Promotions for the past 10 years. In 2000, he was also Logistics Coordinator for Gunnar Racing, a sports car racing team based in Florida. Pendergast, who attended the University of South Florida, resides in Indianapolis.

"These appointments are another step in the process of building a team of experienced motorsports professionals for the American Le Mans Series," said Atherton. "We will continue moving forward as the series experiences its exponential growth in the global motorsports environment."
