CORE autosport Qualifies Second and Fourth at Lime Rock

CORE autosport battled weather conditions and a tightly-packed field to start Saturday’s American Le Mans Series (ALMS) Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park in the second and fourth positions in the Le Mans Prototype Challenge (LMPC) class. The four cars at the front of LMPC was separated by less than one second.

The 15-minute qualifying session on the shortest track of the ALMS season featured wet spots, dry sections and damp areas thanks to a day full of rain.

Just prior to the qualifying session, the rain stopped and Gunnar Jeannette in the #06 Excel Consultants / Composite Resources ORECA FLM09 attacked the 1.474 mile circuit, missing the pole position by a mere three tenths of a second.

Jon Bennett, CORE autosport founder, found speed in his identical #05 Bayshore Recycling / Composite Resources machine and landed a fourth starting spot, beating out several cars including former LMP2 class winner Jon Field.

Two practice sessions, varying in weather conditions from dry to very wet, were held earlier in the day, and the LMPC-championship leading CORE autosport team tried a variety of changes and gave all four drivers additional experience behind the wheel in preparation for the two hour and 45 minute Northeast Grand Prix.
