CORE autosport take LMPC title lead to Lime Rock Park

Le Mans Prototype Challenge (LMPC) newcomers and championship leaders CORE autosport are set to make their Lime Rock Park debut when the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron kicks off its summer run of seven races in 13 weeks in Lakeville, Conn this weekend.

Coming off of a successful test session at Road America in June and a win in Long Beach back in April, the CORE autosport team will defend their standings at the shortest course in the ALMS schedule.

Driving in Saturday’s American Le Mans Series Northeast Grand Prix will be current championship points leaders and experienced racers Gunnar Jeannette and Ricardo Gonzalez in the #06 Excel Consultants / Composite Resources ORECA FLM09.

The #06 duo are nine points ahead of CORE autosport founder Jon Bennett and young gun Frankie Montecalvo in the identical #05 Bayshore Recycling / Composite Resources machine.

The two hour and 45 minute Northeast Grand Prix will highlight the tricky nature of the tight 1.5-mile track and the high-speed traffic the event is known for, making it a challenge for the CORE autosport team to further their points lead. Of note, there is a slightly different configuration to the track for this season, with one of two chicanes removed, opening up the famous West Bend.

The Northeast Grand Prix represents round three of the nine-race ALMS schedule, with the remainder of the races packed into a 13-week schedule that will take CORE autosport to both coasts, street courses and permanent road courses, with events less than three hours long to more than 10.
