Auburn Hills, Mich., With three weeks rest following a close Mosport victory, the Audi Sport Team is ready to take on the new layout at the Texas Motor Speedway.

The new Texas road course was just completed in mid August. The 2.83-mile layout utilizes 95% of the original NASCAR oval, making it a very high-speed circuit. The Audi R8's will approach 180 mph; speeds only previously witnessed down the famed Mulsanne Straight at Le Mans. This will be the first opportunity for the team to race the new R8 on a modified oval layout.

Texas represents round seven of the American Le Mans Series. Audi currently lies second in manufacturer points behind BMW. R8 driver Allan McNish moves up four positions into third place in the driver standings, just 20 points back from series leader Jorg Muller. Teammates Frank Biela and Rinaldo Capello are tied for fifth with 123 points each. Emanuele Pirro lies in seventh place with 121.

#78 Frank Biela/Emanuele Pirro

Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich, head of Audi Sport:
"We want to win and close the gap to BMW rapidly by bringing home as many points as possible."

Allan McNish, driver of the number 77 Audi R8:
"The Texas circuit is an oval, which now features a road course infield section. I will not have seen the track until I get there this week. It appears that a lot of the banked oval section will be used without any chicanes to slow the cars down so that could mean we will be approaching turn one at over 180 mph."

Len Hunt, head of Audi Sport North America:
"We are heading into the last third of the schedule and the team is making a run at the championship. The drivers are really adapting to these tracks that they have never driven before and the car is just fantastic." <pre> ALMS Points Standings after Mosport: 1. Jorg Muller BMW 146 2.
