FULLERTON, CA (February 2, 2005) - Yokohama Tire Corporation is pleased to announce the signing of BAM! (British American Motorsports), which will compete with its #43 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR in the 2005 American Le Mans Series (ALMS) and in the 24 Hours of Le Mans on ADVAN racing slicks.
BAM!'s Porsche factory-supported team will have as its primary ALMS drivers Tony Burgess of Toronto, Canada and Porsche factory-driver Mike Rockenfeller of Neuweid, Germany. Joining those two drivers at the 24 Hours of Le Mans will be Leo Hindery, Jr. of New York.
In addition to the Team competing in the ALMS and at Le Mans on ADVAN tires, Yokohama's partnership with BAM! establishes a research and development program for its racing products, and provides a strong marketing platform for its ADVAN line.
"Everyone at BAM! is honored to now be part of Yokohama's rich history of international sports car racing," said Tim Munday, owner and technical director of BAM! "The ADVAN racing slicks have already proven their competitiveness in pre-season testing, and the team and drivers are tremendously excited about running them in the races ahead."
"Yokohama is very pleased to be able to give a top GT team our dedication to unbeatable performance on the track," said Art Michalik, director of marketing communications for Yokohama Tire Corporation. "We're also pleased to be able to work with such a highly-regarded racing team as we step up our efforts to target Porsche owners with our new ADVAN line."
Yokohama Tire Corporation manufactures markets and distributes a complete line of products for high performance, light truck, passenger car, commercial truck and bus, as well as off-the-road mining and construction applications. Yokohama supports the tire care and safety guidelines established by the Rubber Manufacturer Association (RMA) and the National Highway Transportation and Safety Administration (NHTSA).
