BMW Team PTG notes: Final practice, March 17, 2000 Superflo 12 Hours at Sebring, Sebring (Fla.) International Raceway Race one of 12, American Le Mans Series
BMW Team PTG is ready to race after the final practice session for Saturday's 12-hour endurance race. The #10 BMW M3, driven by Brian Cunningham, Peter Cunningham and Darren Law, was the second- fastest GT car on Friday, with a time of 2:10.621 (101.97 mph). The #6 car, driven by Boris Said, Hans Stuck and Johannes van Overbeek, was sixth in class (2:12.969, 100.17). It will have a new passenger door for the race, after crew member Dusty Wagoner logged 26 hours on the road, driving to Atlanta and returning with a new carbon-fiber door to replace the one damaged earlier this week.
Dave Gahagan, crew chief, #10 BMW M3
"All the drivers seem to be pretty happy. We just made sure everything was okay on the car and made sure it wasn't a totally different animal from yesterday. I think we're in good shape. [anything that needs special attention for a 12-hour race?] Everything!"
Johannes van Overbeek, driver, #6 BMW M3
"I'm excited about the race. It's been quite a long week so far. Unfortunately, I haven't had a great deal of time in the car for a variety of reasons. [Stuck and Said were working on setting up the brand-new car.] I wish I was more comfortable with the car, but it's a long race, a lot can happen. The new car has been very reliable so far, so let's hope that we can be there and celebrate BMW's 25th anniversary."
