Compuware Corvette looks to continue win streak at Road America

DETROIT (August 19, 2003) Hot off a string of victories, the Compuware Corvette Racing Team is ready to return to the United States to pursue another trip to victory lane at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis.

"Our team has had five victories 0x2022 three for the No. 3 Compuware Corvette and two for the No. 4 Compuware Corvette and that success is a tribute to the entire team," said Ron Fellows, driver of the No. 3 Compuware Corvette. "We've really taken the Ferraris seriously this year. The team has stepped up our pit stops, they've worked on building the new car, we've done additional tire testing with Goodyear we're really focused on winning."

As it prepares for this weekend's race at Road America, the Compuware Corvette Racing Team has the Ferraris squarely in its sights.

"This weekend will be a real test," said Fellows. "It has long straightaways, which really play to the strengths of the Ferraris. We'll have to be real smart out there. We'll count on the guys in the pits to get us good track position."

Fellows won't have time to admire the beautiful scenery around Elkhart Lake, but gives Road America high marks.

"It's always great to come to Road America," said Fellows. "It has a great mix of corners and it's the longest course in North America at four miles, which makes for interesting racing. It has been around for a while and has great history, and it's a beautiful area. It makes for a great weekend."

As for the rest of the season, Fellows hasn't had much time to think about that, either. But, the quest for the championship is certainly on his mind.

"It's been a busy stretch, and you really don't think past the next event," noted Fellows. "Maybe about Laguna Seca, we'll start thinking about what we need to do to win the championship."

Four classes of American Le Mans Series cars will compete in the Road America 500, a two-hour, 45-minute timed event that starts at 1 p.m. (EDT) on Sunday, Aug. 24. In addition to the GTS class, the sleek and exotic Prototypes will compete in the LMP 900 and LMP 675 classes, and the production-based cars of the GT class will round out the field. The Road America 500 will be televised live by SPEED Channel beginning at 2 p.m. (EDT). The American Le Mans Series Radio Web will have live coverage of both qualifying and the race and can be heard online at www.americanlemans.com <http://www.americanlemans.com/> .
