INDIANAPOLIS (February 28, 2001) -- The American Le Mans Series will roll out an exciting new look and format for its website in conjunction with this weekend's season-opening Leather Center Grand Prix of Texas at Texas Motor Speedway. The sports car racing series' website is located on the Internet at http://www.americanlemans.com. "We are very enthusiastic about the changes we have made to our website," said Bill Donaldson, Executive Director of the ALMS. "We believe that our fans will find it informative and entertaining, as well as enjoyable and easy to use." The new design of the site was completed by VFX, an Internet and software company that has also produced sites for the CART, Indy Lights and Toyota Atlantic racing series. In addition, VFX has written software used in television production of many forms of motorsports. C.Y. Smith, the Director of Broadcast Operations and Services for the ALMS, was also heavily involved in the design and production of the site. The revised site will feature a dynamic home page that will be regularly updated with the latest series news. The home page will also provide directions for purchasing tickets to upcoming events as well as information on television broadcasts of events. More features will be added later. "Our site should be the first place that our fans go for news about our series," said Donaldson. "There will be features that won't be available anywhere else." All of the popular features of the previous site will return, including the American Le Mans Radio Web. Fans can listen to live radio broadcasts of all ALMS races while on the site, as well as broadcasts of qualifying sessions and selected practice sessions. Broadcast schedules will be posted on the site. In addition, live timing and scoring of all events will continue to be carried on the site, as will media pit notes as they are produced at events. Users will also have access to team and driver information and archived race results and notes from the 1999 and 2000 ALMS seasons. -ALMS
