DUBLIN, Ohio (August 4, 2000) -- InterSport Racing's Banana Joe's Island Party sponsored Judd-powered Lola B2K/10 will not run in Round Six of the American Le Mans Series race on August 6 at the Mosport International Raceway in Bowmanville, Ont., Canada. The car was damaged when it went off course during last weekend's Grand American Road Racing Association's Grand-Prix de Trois-Rivieres in Quebec and has been brought back to the team's Dublin shop for additional repairs.

Jon Field, InterSport's owner/driver, was uninjured in the accident which happened when the back end got loose and the car spun into a tire wall, knocking off the rear wing and causing significant damage. Team manager, Martin Dixon, said, "While we would have been able to make most of the repairs in Canada, we decided to bring the car home and work on it here and skip the ALMS race at Mosport."

It's been a busy summer for the team since acquiring the Judd Lola early in July. The team has run in the Grand Am at Road America near Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin (finished fifth), in the ALMS at Sears Point in Sonoma, California (finished sixth), and in the Grand Am at Trois-Rivieres, where the car had quickest times during practice. InterSport is one of few teams running in both the Grand Am and the ALMS.

Dixon said, "We just haven't had time to do any real testing, so we're taking advantage of this break to go to Putnam Park (Indiana) on August 16-17 for testing." Oliver Gavin (Northampton, England), who has been Field's co-driver for several races this season will be testing the Judd Lola. The team will also run its Banana Joe's Ford Riley & Scott at Putnam Park to get some seat time for Joel (Joe) Field, Jon's twin brother, who will drive the car in selected events.

InterSport's next race will be at the season finale of the inaugural Grand Am season on August 27 during the Six Hours at the Glen at Watkins Glen International Raceway, Watkins Glen, NY.
