Le Mans Series and Endurance racing are in mourning...

Hugh Hayden, a pillar of our series prematurely passed away last Saturday, after a heart attack.

Creator of the Sebah team, Hugh Hayden managed the team with success from 2001; first participating (2001 to 2007) in the European and American Championships with Porsche GTs, he won two Le Mans Series titles in 2004 and 2005 and a vice-champion title in 2007. In 2008 he went into the prototype category. Hugh Hayden's team is entered in Le Mans Series since the first race in 2003: the "1000 km of Le Mans".

With the Speedy Racing-Team Sebah and 2 Lola prototypes, the team continues its endurance racing adventure winning a 2nd place in the 2009 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in LMP2, a vice-champion Team and Driver title in Le Mans Series and the Michelin Green X Challenge.

In 2010, a new association gives birth to Rebellion Racing and two Lola Rebellion's are entered in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and in Le Mans Series. In 2010, Hugh's team will be consecrated, with much emotion, third in the LM P1 team classification and second in the manufacturer classification.

But, above all, it is the charming gentleman and warm friend that we shall mourn. Hugh always had a smile and a kind word for everyone.

Le Mans Series has lost one of the figures which made endurance racing what it is and all the Le Mans Series team offers their most sincere condolences to Bart, his family and team members.
