BMW Team PTG M3s Qualify 2nd and 8th for New England Grand Prix

Lakeville, Conn. - June 30, 2006-- Joey Hand, who will co-drive the No. 21 BMW Team PTG M3 with Bill Auberlen, qualified second in the 10-car GT2 class for tomorrow's American Le Mans Series New England Grand Prix. His time of 53.713 seconds around the 1.54-mile Lime Rock Park circuit was only .164 seconds from the class pole. Hand's effort will give BMW its best starting position of the season as the team returns to the western Connecticut track where it has seen its greatest successes.

Justin Marks, driving the No. 22 BMW Team PTG M3, qualified eighth with a time of 54.486. He will co-drive with Bryan Sellers who has rejoined BMW Team PTG for the third time this season.

"The M3 is the best it has been this season", said Hand. "All of the hard work PTG and Yokohama has done in recent weeks is certainly paying off."

Marks said, "Overall, I am encouraged by the fact that our M3s are now showing consistent speed. Unfortunately, in this session I was slowed by traffic on my first attempt and then lost the front splitter when I went off course on my next hot lap."

BMW Team PTG has raced at Lime Rock Park seven times previously since 1995 - when the team scored the then-new M3 racing program's first podium finish. Scoring a 2-3 GT class finish in 1996, BMW Team PTG won the GT event in the next five races entered, sweeping the Lime Rock GT podium in both 1997 and 1999.

The two-hour-and-forty-five-minute New England Grand Prix is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m. ET tomorrow and will be broadcast on CBS television Sunday, July 2 at 4 p.m.
