Marino Franchitti has spent much of his time since his last race in October in the works' Audi North America S4 at the Virginia International Raceway, keeping himself fit. Three weeks in Australia prior to Christmas continuing his warm weather training, taking his motor cycle test here in the UK - which he passed with flying colours - and latterly testing at the Sebring track in Florida, have kept Marino pretty much on the go. And Marino plans to continue where he left off, "I've got unfinished business" he said, "I managed to reach the top 10 in the ALMS driver standings last year having only competed in 7 races with 1 podium, that's got to come down to single figures this season, and I'm really looking forward to it".
The first race of the American Le Mans Series is now only 2 weeks away, beginning as it always does with the classic 12 hours of Sebring, and Marino will be there driving in the GT class in a new Ferrari 360GT. He has already been testing in Sebring and this week will take in two more days at the Texas Speedway before venturing back south to Florida for the official test days prior to the race itself on Saturday, 15th March.
Marino will be driving with the crack Risi Competizione team and his team mates at Sebring will be the car's owner, Phil Bennett, and former MG works' driver, Irishman Kevin McGarrity. "Phil is one of motor racing's true gentlemen, it's a pleasure to be working and driving with him. His approach to the sport is truly professional; he is working hard on his fitness and his driving which I am sure will manifest itself in his performance. And having Kevin with us at Sebring will be fantastic, he's a mate as well as a great driver. I can't wait for it all to kick off again".
The second Risi Ferrari will be driven by regulars Ralf Kelleners and Anthony Lazzaro, who will be joined for Sebring by Terry Borcheller.
