Dyson Team looks forward to Grand Prix Americas in Miami

MIAMI, FLORIDA, SEPTEMBER 24-- Thetford / Norcold Dyson Racing renews its American Le Mans Series championship effort at this weekend's Grand Prix Americas in downtown Miami.

One year after finishing second in class around the city's 1.2 mile street circuit, Dyson will field two MG-Lola EX257 prototypes in this year's event. Butch Leitzinger and James Weaver will share the #16 machine, while Chris Dyson and Andy Wallace will partner in the #20 sister car. With two rounds remaining in the championship, Chris Dyson leads the LMP675 points championship by ten points over Interport Racing's Jon Field and Duncan Dayton.

The Dyson team has caused quite a stir in the series championship this year, claiming three pole positions and an overall victory with the MG-Lola, which they debuted for four races late last year. Dyson drivers have finished on the podium in all but three races this year. English star James Weaver is pleased with the car's performance to date, and believes that the car should be competitive this weekend.

"We raced the car here last year, but it's been heavily developed since then," Weaver said. "Goodyear's done a fantastic job with their tire development, and we've found a lot of speed this season. I think that the Audis will be strong here, but we've proven all year that we're close enough to make things interesting at all the races."

Chris Dyson agrees. "I was pretty surprised at the speed we showed at Trois-Rivieres in August," he said. "That was a street circuit where we weren't really expecting too much, and the car was certainly quick enough. The track surface here will no doubt be similar to Trois-Rivieres, and we learned a few things there that will help us this weekend."

The Grand Prix Americas kicks off with practice and qualifying sessions on Friday. Saturday's two-hour, forty-five minute event will be televised live on Speed Channel at 4 PM EDT. Live timing and scoring, as well as Radio Le Mans, will be available throughout the weekend at www.americanlemans.com
