RISI READY FOR INCREASED CHALLENGE AT MID OHIO

Houston, Tx, August 5, 2009. With Jaime Melo returning to the USA with yet another Ferrari endurance victory under his belt at the recent FIA GT Championship 24-hour event at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, and Pierre Kaffer having had an extremely impressive run at the same race until a broken gearbox put paid to his challenge, both Risi Competizione drivers are pumped up and ready to go for round six of the American Le Mans Series at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this Saturday, August 8.

Set in scenic hills near Lexington some 60 miles north of Columbus, Ohio, the weekend will not only host the Indycar Series but also the debut in the GT2 class of the infamous, yellow Corvette C6.Rs -- winners of multiple championships in the now largely defunct GT1 class. Their entry boosts the class to a total of ten cars, seven of which are piloted by top-class, fully professional, driver line-ups which makes the outcome even harder to predict.

The 2.25 mile/13-turn permanent road course has been the venue for many classic sports car races in the past and, in the eyes of many, is a driver's track. Repaved in 2006, the layout is technical with a mixture of medium and low speed corners. The surface is smooth, with big, flat curbs which give a gain if they can be used.

"It's very hard to pass other like-speed cars here," said Jaime Melo, 2008 GT2 pole-sitter. "Getting through, and off, the low speed corners in a good way is where the lap time comes from and the only real areas for passing are under braking into the Keyhole and into the right hander at the end of the strait. Qualifying will as always be really important, and I hope we'll be able to give Pierre all the time he needs to learn the track before the race. The race itself won't be easy as I'm sure the Corvettes will be a big challenge in the class -- they are very professional and we know they will be doing everything possible to win -- just like us, the Porsches and the BMWs. It will be closer than ever!"

Risi Competizione is a Houston-based Ferrari racing team lead by Managing Director Giuseppe Risi. Official team sponsors include Motorola, Boardwalk Auto Group, AdShip, Ferrari Financial Services and Ferrari of Houston.

The next round of the American Le Mans Series will be the Acura Sportscar Challenge of Mid Ohio at Lexington, Ohio on Saturday, August 8. The race is scheduled for 3:00pm EDT and will air live on NBC Sports (4:00-6:00pm) and can be followed on American Le Mans Radio presented by Porsche and Live Timing & Scoring on www.americanlemans.com.
