Mosport: JaguarRSR qualifying report

GOOSSENS PUTS JaguarRSR XKR GT IN TOP TEN FOR MOSPORT GRID

BOWMANVILLE, Ontario, Canada (August 28, 2010) - JaguarRSR continues to close in on the GT leaders and earns its first top-ten qualifying result en route to tomorrow's Mobil 1 presents the Grand Prix of Mosport, Round 8 of the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón.

Four rounds ago in Utah, the JaguarRSR XKR GT was four seconds from the leader, and now that gap has dropped to under two seconds. Marc Goossens had a good run in qualifying recording a time of 1:19.099 (111.915 mph) and will start ninth on the provisional GT grid.

"I think this weekend has seen the most progress with the changes we made to the JaguarRSR XKR GT," said Goossens. "We ended up having a pretty decent car this afternoon, but I believe there is still more performance to get out of it. To be where we are at, a lot of credit goes to the team for all their hard work. That shows in lap time now, which is something we have been waiting for. By far this is the best car we have had. We can tell, running with other GT cars, that we are definitely not lacking power, we have good engine performance and handling-wise we're heading in the right direction, but we could do with a little more grip overall. So we need to get that sorted out, motivate everyone to have a good race tomorrow, and I can't see why we wouldn't have a good result."
