Perfect weekend ends with victory for Muscle Milk Team CytoSport

Bowmanville, Ont. (August 29, 2010) - The historic and challenging Mosport International Raceway was no match for Muscle Milk Team CytoSport as the team topped off a perfect weekend with its third victory of the season.

Klaus Graf and Mosport teammate Romain Dumas led every practice and qualifying session, led every lap and nearly lapped the entire field.

The Muscle Milk squad came into the Mobil 1 Grand Prix of Mosport with revenge on its mind after a heartbreaking second place at Road America last weekend and the team's determination showed from the moment the Porsche RS Spyder rolled off the truck.

The team was proud of its performances leading up to the race, but it only had one objective in mind and that was to take the win on Sunday.

Not only did Dumas and Graf give Team CytoSport the desired second overall win of the season, the pair also led all 99 laps, capping a perfect weekend for the Benicia, CA-based team.

With Greg Pickett out due to injuries suffered in a testing crash at Mid-Ohio a few weeks ago, Porsche ace Dumas was joining the team for the weekend. The Frenchman started the race aboard the #6 Muscle Milk Porsche RS Spyder, masterfully driving his favorite race car to a more than one minute lead by the time a first yellow flag came out just over one hour into the event.

The team took advantage of the caution period to pit for fuel, Michelin tires and a driver change. Upon returning to the track, Muscle Milk Team CytoSport and driver Klaus Graf found itself only a few cars behind the second place Highcroft car.

Romain and Klaus with trophies From that point on, the chase was on to try and put the team's closest competitors one lap down. While Graf pushed as hard as he could, Simon Pagenaud in the Highcroft car was doing the same and taking advantage of some traffic to keep Graf at bay.

While Graf came close to overtaking Pagenaud, time ran out when another full course caution came out for a massive crash by the #48 GTC car on lap 92 with about 46 minutes left in the event.

The race continued under yellow for just over 15 minutes before a red flag was called. The #48 Porsche 911 GT3 cup car had hit the barrier in the Andretti straight so hard that the impact had pushed it back several feet.

The Mosport crew tried as best they could to fix the barrier but with driver safety in mind, officials considered it best to call it a race after having the drivers complete one final lap under yellow to take the checkered flag.

Although the team would have liked to end the race under different circumstances, the team's domination over the course of the weekend was proof enough that they deserved the win.

With its third victory of the season, Muscle Milk Team CytoSport now find themselves 16 points back behind the championship leading Highcroft team with one race left on the 2010 schedule.

The Muscle Milk crew now has a few weeks off of racing before heading to Road Atlanta for the famed Petit Le Mans race, which takes place October 2, 2010.

What they had to say:

Klaus Graf Headshot Klaus Graf, Qualifying Driver #6 Muscle Milk Porsche RS Spyder

"Fantastic! I think we really deserved this win. We had a great package all weekend. Romain and I worked very well together and I think that was a big advantage. We were able to make improvements every time and we really trimmed the car out and dialed it in. We had a really, really good car and the guys did a fantastic job with the strategy and the pit stops were awesome.

"I was just talking to Greg (Pickett) and we never thought that when we bought this car, we would get this much out of it. I think it's a combination of the car, the Michelin tires and the team. We've been getting better and better and it's a good feeling and I'm proud to be able to run with the best drivers out there.

"I couldn't be happier, it's our second overall win, and especially after last week where we came so close to another one. It's been a good two weeks! It feels really good right now. The championship battle is still open. We don't really look at it too much, we're more focused on achieving another good result at Petit Le Mans. But right now we're going to relax a little bit and celebrate with the whole crew."

Romain Dumas, driver #6 Muscle Milk Porsche RS Spyder

"It was a perfect weekend. I think we deserved by far this victory because the team was very good all weekend. We had a great car and the Muscle Milk Team CytoSport crew also did a great job. It was the first time for me in ALMS, and also for the team, that we led every session, that was very special.

"In the race we were very confident, we made no mistakes and everything was going very well. I could feel that the team really wanted to win this race. We talked a lot about strategy before the race and they made the right calls.

"In the end, I'm very happy to have been back in the Porsche RS Spyder for one race, it was a big present for me. And I always want to win and to win with this team is just great."

Geoffrey Carter, Team Manager, #6 Muscle Milk Porsche RS Spyder

"Wow! I'm really proud of our Muscle Milk Team CytoSport team again today. We came in this weekend with very high expectations and high hopes. We had a lot of momentum coming in from a disappointing second at Elkhart Lake.

"The guys brought the car in, off the trailer fastest in every session, qualified on pole, led every lap and won the race. It was an absolutely great weekend for the entire crew.

"You don't get those very often and when you get those kinds of weekends you just really savor them and enjoy them. Our team deserved to win today, we had the best car, the best crew and best drivers. I'm very proud of everybody.

"We're looking forward to going to Atlanta for Petit Le Mans. We know we have an uphill battle for the championship but they know who we are and where we're going so we're going to go there and do our best and try to represent our brand and our team as best we can."
