O'Connell Racing Announces a Triple Platform for 2010 of NASCAR, Grand-Am Rolex Series & American Lemans

Driver Nikolas Konstant Joins Team for ALMS LMPC Prototype Effort

ORANGE COUNTY, CA. -- January 7th, 2010. O'Connell Racing (www.OConnellRacing.com), a southern California based road racing team announced today plans for the 2010 season. Team principal Kevin O'Connell stated, "With much of the corporate and motorsports landscape changed for the near term we realize that our marketing partners require what we consider to be a "best of breed" racing platform that encompasses only the best series and top race events. In light of that determination, we have chosen to add to our road racing program and equipment, and to include only the premier road racing events in North America with the NASCAR Nationwide Series, the Grand-Am Rolex Series, and new to our team in this year, the American Lemans Series."

In the NASCAR Nationwide Series, the team intends to enter the road course events at the newly added Road America, Montreal in conjunction with the Grand-Am Rolex Series and Watkins Glen with the Sprint Cup Series and Grand- Am series. For the NASCAR races the team will run a Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS and for select Grand -Am Rolex Series races on companion event weekends the team will run a Porsche GT3 Cup Car.

In the American Lemans Series and with the addition of driver Nikolas Konstant, the team will enter certain events on the ALMS schedule campaigning the new LMPC Challenge Prototype racecar that is being introduced to the series this year. Driver Nikolas Konstant commented, "I am excited to be joining O'Connell Racing. This team has been racing together for a decade and the broad based experience of racing sports cars in Grand-Am and ALMS as well as NASCAR stock cars gives the team and it's drivers very diverse experience. I look forward to introducing the LMP- Challenge prototype to the offering this season."

The diversified platform and the 2010 team will incorporate many of the team members from the successful 2007 and 2008 seasons of racing. Crew Chief Roy Montgomery commented, "We have always challenged ourselves as a team and this year will be no different. After taking some time off to adjust our racing program and put together some new technical relationships, I feel confident we have a good overall combination of people and equipment and the introduction of ALMS will be the next intriguing chapter in the history of this team."
