Long Beach, California – Flying Lizard completed yesterday's GTC qualifying session with the third and seventh fastest times in class.
Spencer Pumpelly qualified in third place in the No 45 911 GT3 Cup car with a time of 1:23.014, and Dion von Moltke clocked a 1:24.239 in the No 44, good for seventh place in class. Nelson Canache Jr. will start the No 45 in today's race, with Brian Wong starting the No 44.Steve Conover, Chief Engineer, looked forward to the race, saying "I think we have a good setup on the cars. The cars have ended up much closer to one another than usual and I think that the setups suit both the drivers and the track, something which isn't always possible to achieve in an abbreviated weekend schedule like this one.
Tire life also should be very good and we will be competitive. All three 45 car drivers from the 12 Hours of Sebring are back for this race and that familiarity has helped us in this compressed schedule.
In the 44 car it's our first time working with Dion and although we haven't had much time to get to know one another yet it's already clear that he is an excellent driver to work with and he has given very good feedback. He is a very astute and focused driver."
