INTERSPORT RACING DRIVER KYLE MARCELLI READIES FOR HIS FIRST TASTE OF THE PETIT LE MANS
(Dublin, Ohio) September 20th 2010 - With the 2010 American Le Mans Series finale just around the corner, Intersport Racing driver Kyle Marcelli prepares himself for what will be 10 hours of endurance sports car racing action around Road Atlanta, an event better known as the Petit Le Mans.
Petit Le Mans (French for little Le Mans) is a sports car endurance race held annually at Road Atlanta in Georgia. Using the rules established by the Automobile Club de l' Ouest (ACO) for the 24 hours of Le Mans. The race was first run in 1998, and in 1999 became one of the original events of the American Le Mans Series. Teams consist of two or three drivers operating each car. The race is won by the first team to complete 1000 miles or whichever team is ahead after 10 hours maximum of racing. In addition to the overall race, teams compete for class victories in up to five different classes of cars. The race was founded by Dr. Don Panoz, the owner of the Panoz Motor Sports Group, which also owns the American Le Mans Series, Road Atlanta, Sebring International Raceway, and Mosport International Raceway.
"The Petit Le Mans is one of the most prestigious sports car races in the world. I'm very excited to be apart of such a high profile event. This race is no stranger to Intersport Racing, thus I know they will continue to provide me with the most competitive equipment to do the job. Together we have shown a winning pace all season long, our superior efforts have been so close placing the car second on the grid three events in a row. With a good race strategy, I'm confident that going into Road Atlanta the finale of the ALMS it's going to be our time." Said Marcelli
The 13TH Annual Petit Le Mans kicks off Wednesday, September 29th with official practice all in which leads up to the spectacle Saturday, October 2nd when the green flag drops at 11:15am EST. Full live coverage begins at 11:00am on SPEED.
