Alex Job Racing's Dumas Grabs Fourth ALMS GT Pole of the Season as Porsches Outrun Ferraris and Panoz at Hot, Slippery Road Atlanta

--Frenchman Romain Dumas, driving the #24 Alex Job Racing McKenna mail2web.com Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, captured his fourth ALMS GT pole of the season for tomorrow's Chevy presents Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta -

BRASELTON, Georgia - September 24, 2004 - Romain Dumas, from Ales, France, driving the #24 Alex Job Racing McKenna mail2web.com Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, has earned his fourth pole of the season and will start first on the GT grid for tomorrow's ten-hour, 1000-mile Chevy presents Petit Le Mans event at Road Atlanta.

Dumas, who co-drives with Germans Marc Lieb and Wolf Henzler, had a low-speed accident in testing at the track last weekend, but he said damage to the car was minimal, and the Alex Job crew made the car better than new.

"I won Petit Le Mans in an Alex Job Porsche last year, so I know the track and knew where I made my mistake last weekend, so when the crew fixed the car quickly, I forgot about the accident and got back to business," said Dumas, who ran only five laps in turning his fast time.

The track was slippery from debris scattered on the asphalt from previous races on Friday, and the hot weather (80 degrees F) made the surface slick, according to Dumas.

Sharing the front row in the second grid position will be the Flying Lizard Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 RSR of Johannes van Overbeek, Darren Law and Patrick Huisman. Johannes qualified the car, and said that the increased size of the field adds to everyone's challenges.

"This is the most competitive GT class so far this year. It's a great showing here at Petit, but it means more traffic, which made it difficult to get a clean lap in qualifying," he said.

Law and van Overbeek are three points behind Timo Bernhard in Alex Job Racing Porsche for the points lead in the GT class. Bernhard, qualifying the car that he, Jorg Bergmeister, and Sascha Maassen will drive, was fourth after an alignment problem slowed down their efforts.

Third on the grid - their highest qualifying position on the year - was The Racer's Group Porsche of Patrick Long/Mike Rockenfeller/Cort Wagner, with Long performing the qualifying chores, while the two Ferraris in the field were fifth and sixth.

Porsches have won their class at Petit Le Mans five of the six years the event has run, and have scored a total of seven class wins.

The Chevy presents Petit Le Mans will be televised live on The Speed Channel starting at 11:30 AM Eastern Daylight Time on Saturday, September 25 (races commences at noon).

The live broadcast will be aired 11:30 AM - 3:30 PM; 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM; and 7:30 PM - 10:00 PM plus a post-race show.
