NOTES OF INTEREST
Infineon Raceway (formerly Sears Point Raceway) has hosted a race for the American Le Mans Series every year since the formation of the series in 1999. The ALMS uses the full 2.53-mile "long" course at Infineon, not the shorter course used by NASCAR in its events at the track. Among the competitors at Infineon will be the three class-winning teams from this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans, including ADT Champion Racing (LMP 900), Prodrive Ferrari (GTS) and Alex Job Racing (GT). Infineon Team Joest, which won the ALMS season-opening 12-hour event at Sebring with its Audi R8, will also compete as will Corvette Racing, winner of the GTS class the past two years in ALMS events at Infineon Raceway. Driver Ron Fellows, who had such a strong run in the NASCAR Winston Cup event held at Infineon Raceway in June, will drive for the Corvette team. Sonoma's own Kevin Buckler will lead the three-car Racers Group team into bathe in the GT class at the team's home track.
