CARE LARBRE SUFFER DUE TO SEBRING QUALIFYING WASH OUT

Consistent heavy rain throughout the day saw today's official qualifying session for Saturday's 12 Hours of Sebring cancelled. Unfortunately this situation did not favour the Care Larbre team, who had been planning to use the available track time to work further on the set up of the Ferrari 550 for the race. The grid has been decided by using the best times set by each car from yesterday's combined practice sessions. The #86 Ferrari 550 will therefore start 8th in the GT1 class.

The French team has suffered from a set of circumstances which have meant that it does not feel it has had adequate track time in which to achieve the best set up, although the team is confident that this will not affect its race performance or reliability.

The first two days of practice were largely given over to Fabrizio Gollin and Sébastien Bourdais for them to familiarise themselves with the track and car respectively. It had been planned to finalise the set up of the car today but the rain prevented any meaningful running. Bourdais, in fact, only completed one exploratory lap in the morning and no-one ran in the afternoon.

Sébastien Bourdais (F) (a Tampa, FL resident): "Tropical depressions like this happen about twice a year here so it's unlucky for us to have it this week. We were expecting to work on the car today but we still have an hour tomorrow and we'll use it the best we can. The lost track time hasn't been to our advantage and we've still got some way to go on the set up but we will test a few things tomorrow which will hopefully be in the right direction. I'm not worried about the starting position - it's a long race."

Christophe Bouchut (F): "Actually, I am not surprised with the performance of the Ferrari, it is what I expected. But I think we will be more competitive for the race than in qualifying. We are now in our race configuration and I am confident we will be strong for the race. We have 3 good drivers and the Ferrari is really reliable which is a good advantage for us so I think everything is open. There are a number of cars which can win this race but it will depend on what happens on the track, reliability and, of course, performance."

Fabrizio Gollin (I): "For me I think it will be a very interesting race, because we are a very good team. I have learned the track well now, and I understand the set up of the car well [from two years with the Ferrari 550 in the FIA GT Championship] so I think I can help the team to find a good solution for the race. Bouchut and Bourdais are very fast and I know I can now also go fast in the race. Today is a bad day because of the weather but it doesn't matter. We have a new set up now and probably tomorrow we will check it to see if this solution works. I am quite sure it will be and I want to finish well."
