GETTING TO KNOW YOU: ANDY LALLY
Inside the head of the lead pilot in TRG's GTC attack

If it has wheels, Andy Lally wants it to go fast. Cars, trucks, bikes...even Big Wheels! So what drives this all-American racer? We asked in the latest edition of 'Getting to Know You'. Check americanlemans.com often for frequent updates!

Q: OK, our infamous question... Under the race suit -boxers or briefs?

A: Neither. I can't stand underwear. I'm commando 99 percent of the time.

Q: What was the most interesting job you had before getting your break as a driver?

A: I did a lot of random stuff like pumping gas and delivering pizza but my most interesting job was working in a metal fab shop that my Dad owns. I lasted about 11 months before I chopped the tip of my finger off in a punch press just two weeks before race season was starting.

Q: What is your favorite childhood memory?

A: I had a great childhood and it would be almost impossible to pick a favorite. Riding my first go-kart may be up there. Riding my big wheel down huge hills, skateboarding, BMX racing... I'm pretty sure if I had to narrow it down it would be going fast on something with wheels on it."

Q: Where might we find you on a weekend off?

A: If I'm not racing cars I am probably either racing a streetluge or a mountain bike somewhere. I also train at an MMA gym focusing on Jiu Jitsu and I really love that. Although if I had to pick a vacation idea it would be a cruise. I love the open water and sea air, and can just sit out on a balcony and relax watching the water with a glass of wine for hours.

Q: Creamy or Chunky?

A: Omega all-natural Super Chunky. Does anyone still eat Creamy? Weird.

Q: If you could not have become a racecar driver what would you have been?

A: A fireman. No doubt.

Q: What is your best career racing memory?

A: I've been fortunate to have many. A second overall at Sebring in 2008 or my podium finish at Le Mans (third in 2006) was pretty awesome too.

Q: What is one word your mother would use to describe you?

A: Ambitious.

Q: What is the worst gift you have ever received?

A: It was meant to be a nice gesture but I got a cooler full of frozen steaks mailed to me from a high end supplier. It might have been nice if I wasn't a vegetarian.
