Klaus Graf was in a heated battle for pole position with Rebellion Racing's Neel Jani in the first part of the session. Graf registered a couple of laps that were good for the provisional pole but Jani would immediately regain the position, relegating the German to second each time.

While on his final lap of his first stint, Graf was slowed by a car that had spun in the Corkscrew and was forced to drive through the gravel, costing him what could have been his fastest lap.

The #6 Muscle Milk HPD ARX-03a sat in second for the majority of the qualifying session, with a best lap of one minute 13.954 seconds, but they would end up third when the Dyson car took over second place with under five minutes to go.

Knowing they had a bit more speed in their P1 car, Graf returned to the track with a couple of minutes to go but was once again slowed by another competitor and had to settle for third on the grid.

The Muscle Milk Pickett Racing team will be back on track at 9:40 am PT for the warm up session ahead of the 3:30 pm PT race start.

Klaus Graf (driver #6 Muscle Milk HPD ARX-03a): "I'm quite happy with our performance. We improved the car steadily. The car was fast in qualifying but unfortunately on my quickest lap a car spun in the Corkscrew and was parked in the middle of the road, so I had to abandon that lap. I was up by nearly four tenths at that point.

"We had second place in the car for sure. Jani did a hell of a lap so I don't think that would have been possible but I think we have a really good race car for tomorrow.

"It's a four-hour race, I look forward to it. I think Lucas and I know how to drive this place in traffic and manage everything well so I think we're well prepared."
