Petersen/White Lightning Third Quick in GT2 Test at Salt Lake City

TOOELE, Utah, July 13, 2006 -- Petersen Motorsports/White Lightning Racing made its first laps of the new Miller Motorsports Park this evening in testing for the Larry H. Miller Dealerships Utah Grand Prix. Under a blistering sun the No. 31 MMPIE/PAWS/Market Scan/Michelin Porsche 911 GT3 RSR turned the third quickest lap of the GT2 class in the one hour and 30-minute session. Jorg Bergmeister (Langenfeld, Germany) set the early standard for the class with a two minute, 48.660 second lap. However, it would be Patrick Long (Las Vegas, Nev.) later in the session that would turn the quick lap of 2:47.546 for the 2005 American Le Mans Series GT2 Championship-winning team. Long's time was 1.47 seconds behind the fastest lap turned by a Ferrari 430.

Preparations for Saturday's two hour and 45-minute American Le Mans Series race will continue Friday on the 4.5 mile, 24-turn course. The Michael Petersen-owned team will have two hours of practice before 20 minutes of qualifying will set the grid for Saturday evening's race.

The Utah Grand Prix will start at 6 PM (MT) on July 15. A tape delayed broadcast of the American Le Mans Series debut-event at Miller Motorsports Park can be seen on CBS at 2 PM (ET) on July 16. Live timing and scoring can be found at www.AmericanLeMans.com.

Quotes:

Jorg Bergmeister, Driver:

"I really like the track. It's a big challenge for the driver but also for the setup of the car. There are some really fast corners but also some pretty slow corners. We're still fine tuning the car to track. It's getting better and better. So far I'm really enjoying being here. Unfortunately, the Ferrari is a little quicker but we will keep working."

Patrick Long, Driver:

"I was pretty happy. We were able to get up to speed pretty quick. We are still fine tuning for the race. We have a lot of work to do to catch-up to that Ferrari. But, we have all day tomorrow; we'll keep working on the setup. I struggled a little with the sun setting so we'll take that into account for the race. The track is good. It reminds me a lot of a small Le Mans."
