(South Boston, VA) Kevin Schwantz, the 1993 Grand Prix Champion, will compete August 30th at Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway in the AMA Red Bull SuperMoto Championship Event. Schwantz held more than 21 lap records during his racing career and has 25 Grand Prix wins. He retired from road racing in 1995 due to repeated wrist and hip injuries, but never gave up the need for speed or his love for racing.

The AMA Red Bull SuperMoto Championship is Kevin Schwantz's chance to return to national competition since his retirement. He had this to say in a press release, "I think Supermoto's an exciting type of racing," said Schwantz, "it's a mix of dirt and pavement with the possibility of a jump, it draws from three different types of competition. It should be an interesting new championship and I am excited to be involved with it. It's been eight years since I have competed in a full series championship, and this time I am doing it just for fun!"

A self-prepared Suzuki DRZ400 will be Kevin Schwantz's ride of choice in the SuperMoto Series. The SuperMoto race at Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway in South Boston, Virginia should be an exciting event for bike fans on a course designed by Don Canet. The layout of the track and grandstands will give fans a view of all the twists, turns and jumps during the event.

Schwantz broke three of his fingers at the base of his hand while racing his superbike at Fontana (Ca) in April of 2003. As of June this year, he should have one hundred percent use of his hand according to his doctor in Atlanta. Kevin is on the move a lot with his Suzuki riding school in Atlanta, GA. More information can be obtained about Schwantz's motorcycle driving school at www.schwantzschool.com. He wants to help those who want to acquire more confidence while riding their motorcycle and to increase their riding skills.

With Kevin Schwantz's extensive background in the world of motorcycle racing, the AMA Red Bull SuperMoto Championship should be quite the event to watch. Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway Staff are excited and ready to welcome riders such as Boris Chambon, Jeremy McGrath, Mike Metzger, and Kevin Schwantz to the track. Don't miss the chance to watch some of the world's greatest riders at "America's Hometown Track" on August 30th.

In 2003, Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway celebrates 46 years of racing excitement and affordable family entertainment.
