McGrath throws out first pitch at Cardinals-Rockies game.
Supercross legend winds up for his first win of the season.
ST. LOUIS (April 4, 2002) - Seven-time EA SPORTS Supercross champion Jeremy McGrath threw out the first pitch at the St. Louis Cardinals vs. Colorado Rockies Major League Baseball game today at Busch Stadium, just two days before competing at the Edward Jones Dome for Round 12 of EA SPORTS Supercross Presented by Speed Stick (April 6).
Last fall, McGrath, the winner of 72 250cc supercross races, signed a deal with Bud Light to serve as title sponsor of his team. On behalf of Bud Light, McGrath's first-pitch ceremony is the first by a supercross rider at a Major League Baseball game. McGrath joins St. Louis Cardinals legend and elected Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith, who threw out the first pitch April 1 at the Cardinal's opening day, as an elite member of 'first pitch throwers' this season at Busch Stadium.
The St. Louis round of supercross at the Edward Jones Dome is the 'home race' for McGrath's sponsor, Bud Light. In addition to the first pitch, McGrath spent the day touring the local Anheuser-Busch brewery, visiting the Busch Stadium clubhouse and meeting many St. Louis Cardinals players and being interviewed in the broadcast booth by Cardinals radio play-by-play announcers.
