Suzuki GSX-Rs on the Podium in New Jersey

Brea, Calif. - September 7, 2010 - Suzuki GSX-Rs had a great weekend at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, NJ, at Round 9 of the AMA Pro Road Racing series. The Daytona SportBike class was owned by the GSX-R600, with Martin Cardenas taking the win on Saturday and Danny Eslick coming out victorious in Sunday's race. John Hopkins also had a great weekend aboard his GSX-R1000, reaching the third-place spot on the podium in the American SuperBike class on Sunday.

Saturday's Daytona SportBike race was as exciting as every race has been so far in the 2010 season. With only a few points separating the leaders of the class, there's a battle to the finish line every time the green flag unleashes the racers from the starting grid. With a freight train of at least six racers vying for the lead at any given moment, Martin Cardenas was able to hold off the competition and take the win aboard his M4 Monster Energy Suzuki GSX-R600. Five of the top-10 racers were riding the GSX-R600, including points leader Danny Eslick and his Geico Powersports RMR Suzuki in fifth place. Corey West got sixth aboard his Vesrah Suzuki while teammate Chris Fillmore took eighth, and P.J. Jacobsen from Celtic Racing finished in seventh with his GSX-R600.

In the AMA Pro SuperSport race on Saturday, James Rispoli took fifth with his Suzuki GSX-R600, while Daniel Guevara and his RoadRacingWorld.com Suzuki took seventh. Elena Myers ended the day in eighth aboard her Lucas Oil RoadRacingWorld.com RMR Suzuki, and she is currently in second overall in the AMA SuperSport West standings.

In the AMA American SuperBike class, John Hopkins put together a strong effort on his M4 Monster Energy Suzuki GSX-R1000 in fifth, followed by Jake Zemke and his National Guard Jordan Suzuki in sixth. Seventh was owned by Brett McCormick on his Jordan Suzuki ride, and Taylor Knapp rounded out the top 10 on his RidersDiscount.com Suzuki GSX-R1000.

Sunday's Daytona SportBike race win went to Danny Eslick after a thrilling race that was a fight to the finish. Eslick is now 11 points ahead of second place in the standings with 356, and Martin Cardenas is in third, but only one point out from second place. Cardenas got third for the day aboard his M4 Monster Suzuki, and will be looking to earn more valuable points toward the championship at the next race. P.J. Jacobsen followed him across the finish line in fourth, and Russ Wikle rounded out the top 10 on his GSX-R600.

On Sunday, the AMA Pro SuperSport race win went to James Rispoli on his GSX-R600. It was a great race, and Rispoli put all the power of his Suzuki to use on the way to his first victory of 2010. He is currently in fifth overall in the AMA Pro SuperSport East standings. Another notable Suzuki finish was Corey Alexander and his fifth-place ride on his National Guard Suzuki.

In the AMA American SuperBike class on Sunday, John Hopkins took third place after a hard-fought race. It was Hopkins' first podium appearance of the year, and he was very happy with the performance of his M4 Monster Energy Suzuki GSX-R1000. Brett McCormick ended the day in fifth place on his Jordan Suzuki, followed by Jake Zemke in sixth. Taylor Knapp improved his results from Saturday by taking eighth place, and Chris Ulrich broke into the top 10 with his ninth-place ride on his GSX-R1000. Shane Narbonne took his Celtic Racing Suzuki rounded out the top 10 with his 10th-place ride on his GSX-R1000.

The final race of the season is set for Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama, September 24-26. Look for the Suzuki GSX-Rs to be out front and on the podium at the series finale!
