Spring Run, PA_ Raun Wood of Dublin was a star on AMA motorcycle racing Saturday night at the Path Valley Speedway Park as he roared to a win in the 600A class feature which has been extended to 25 laps.
Wood also won the 250A feature, another top class. Brandon Robinson of Oxford was the night's only other double winner on two wheels with wins in 125 Modified and in the 250B class. Cory Buhrman of Upper Strasburg won both the four-wheeler two-stroke and four-stroke features and finished third in the Sportsman class four-wheelers behind Chris Crull and John Dougherty.
In the Central PA Legends Cars feature young Nathan Fisher of McClure was in the right place at the right time. When race leaders Randy Kissinger (48) and Butch Brough collided coming out of turn four onto the front stretch with two laps to go, Fisher picked up the pace on the restart. He went to the inside of Greg Burd at the start of lap 19 going into turn one and took the checkers by about three car lengths for his first win of the season. The Legends Cars race again Friday, July 25, with the regular five weekly divisions, the 600 Sprints, 270 Sprints, V-8 Street Stocks, Modified Mini Stocks and Four-Cylinder Thunder Cars.
The AMA Region 6 motorcycles and four-wheelers return to Path Valley with the Legends Cars Saturday evening, August 16, with gates open at 5 p.m.
The Path Valley Speedway Park is located in Spring Run PA a mile north on PA Route 641 from the intersection with PA Route 75, halfway between Port Royal and Hagerstown. It is five miles east from the Willow Hill Exit 14 of the PA Turnpike.
The new phone number at the track for promoter Ken Geesey is 717-349-7111. For information on the 2003 schedule and rules, race teams and fans can consult the website at www.pathvalley.com or they can email Two Wheel Promotions at twp@pathvalley.com.
