Path Valley Hosts National Motorcycle Racing Champion

Spring Run, PA_ National Amateur champion John Lewis V of Brandamore continued to dominate the faster motorcycle classes as Two Wheel Promotions hosted the season's final AMA race Saturday at the Path Valley Speedway Park. Lewis won both the 505A and the Sportsman features.

Brother and sister Cory and Shayna Texter of Willow Street dominated the teenage classes with two wins for Cory over big fields in 505B and 450B, and three for Shayna including both the Schoolboy class and the 100 Modifieds.

Adding drama to the final Path Valley points race for motorcycles and four-wheelers was the quest by Dane Delancey of Port Royal for his 100th career win on four wheels. Delancey had earlier that day won his 99th race in the four-wheeler class at karts and quads racing at Path Valley. He had previously won all three of the AMA four-wheeler classes, twice, in the same night and roared ahead of a good field to win both two-stroke and four-stroke, but rival Matt Dice took the four-wheeler Sportsman feature.

Amid the younger riders, 85cc and smaller, different winners took each feature to promise good competition in coming years, and on the senior bikes John Winsett Sr. won in 40 and older while Todd Kendig won the 30 and older feature.

The top Path Valley riders who attend will all be honored Nov. 20 at the annual awards banquet at the Pleasant Hall Firehall, following the 6 p.m. banquet.

The Path Valley Speedway Park is located in Spring Run PA a mile north on PA Route 641 from the intersection with PA Route 75, halfway between Port Royal and Hagerstown. It is five miles east from the Willow Hill Exit 14 of the PA Turnpike. The new phone number at the track is 717-349-7111.
