PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- AMA Sports, the amateur and pro-am competition division of the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA), has announced the second annual AMA National Indoor Trials Championship, presented by OG Productions of Winters, California. The event will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2003, at the Cow Palace in San Francisco.
With riders representing both the Canadian Motorcycle Association and the American Motorcyclist Association, the 2003-2004 AMA National Indoor Trials Championship will be a continental championship as well.
"Our second season for the indoor trials championship will be a great showcase for North America's top riders, and the series is growing, with a second and final event planned for May of 2004," said Douglas Neubauer, Director of AMA Sports. "Especially with the organizer's experience in putting together local, national, and world-championship events, we believe that the AMA National Indoor Trials Championship has a bright future."
Riders earn their invitation to compete in the 2003 AMA National Indoor Trials Championship based on their performance in the 2002 AMA/NATC Ryan Young Products National Observed Trials Championship Series. As in international competition, there will be one "wild card" entry allowed by the organizer and AMA Sports.
Geoff Aaron, seven-time AMA National Observed Trials Champion, first Indoor National Champion, and 2000 AMA Sports Athlete-of-the-Year is scheduled to compete in the 2003-2004 AMA National Indoor Trials Championship. Joining him in this second annual competition will be Ryon Bell, Chris Florin, Raymond Peters, Wilson Craig, David Chaves, and Andy Johnson. Profiles of these riders can be found at www.mototrials.com.
The 2003-2004 AMA National Indoor Trials Championship course will consist of seven standard sections and two heads-up race sections in the event's 3-hour program.
