USA INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY GETS RAVE REVIEWS
New Supermoto circuit to host national round in July

PICKERINGTON, Ohio (May 2, 2005) -- The first official open practice was held April 17 at the newly opened USA International Raceway in Shawano, Wisc., and the track received excellent reviews from AMA Supermoto Series regulars. USA International Raceway is scheduled to host its first AMA Supermoto Championship round in July and all indications point towards this being one of the best tracks in the series.

"It's a world class supermoto track," said AMA Supermoto Series contender Ben Carlson of USA International Raceway. "It has everything from first gear turns to fourth gear sweepers. It flows really well and it's wide so there should be plenty of passing going on. I'm really excited about having a national round there this summer."

The mile-long, 24-turn track was constructed last summer and state-of-the-art asphalt was used with special polymers that give the racing surface not only durability, but also makes it tremendously smooth.

"That has to be the smoothest pavement I've ever ridden, "said team owner and supermoto racer Mitch Hansen. "Everyone told me how great the track and facilities were, but it went beyond my expectations. There are elevation changes and in some areas spectators should be able to see nearly the entire track. We're lucky to have a track like this as part of the series."

The race at USA International Raceway is one of two AMA Supermoto rounds being held in Wisconsin. The other is at Road America on June 4 in conjunction with the AMA Superbike Championship event. Shawano is located approximately 35 miles northwest of Green Bay.

"USA International Raceway is nothing short of a roller coaster ride," said Perry Prichard, Motorcycle Event Coordinator/USA International Raceway. Non-stop hills, valleys and a great combination of technical turns. One minute the bike is light and the front wheel starts to climb skyward and the next second it's being pulled down by the "G" forces pulling it into the earth. The track will throw riders an off camber turn backed by a banked curve that will have them thinking they'll see lunch again. "The surface of the track is smooth yet abrasive. When I say smooth I mean smooth like a billiard table. So far there has not been one rider who hasn't come off the track without a smile from ear to ear."

General Manager Scott Paape felt the time was right to build a track like USA International. "Supermoto is getting bigger and we wanted to get involved in the sport while it's hot," Paape said. "In addition to the national we plan on having a lot of regional events to help develop our local riders. When the AMA series comes to town our fans and local riders will get the opportunity to see the best of the best."
