Las Vegas – The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is ready to head full throttle into an action filled weekend that includes three incredible drag-racing events. Racing will take off with Friday Night Drags at The Strip. Some of the best High School and Import competitors in the area will battle in weekly E.T. bracket racing for series points. Import competitors will have their second chance at winning a portion of the $300 National Performance Center contingency prize money announced last week. In addition to bracket racing and a test-n-tune, The Strip will host its first Shop Teacher Challenge Friday Night. Las Vegas area shop teachers are invited to compete at The Strip free of charge against other teachers and high-school students. The event is part of an ongoing promotion at The Strip to encourage safe and legal competition for area teens. On Saturday Pro Star Motorcycles will make a special appearance at The Strip. The event will include Funny Bike, Pro Stock, Pro Mods, Top Gas, Super Comp., Super Gas, Street E.T. and V-Twin E.T. divisions. Gates are set to open Friday at 5 p.m. with racing from 6 p.m. to midnight. Entry fee at the Friday Night Drags is $15 for car and driver, $10 for competing high school students with a valid student ID, $10 for crew and spectators and $5 for non-competing high school students, military and seniors. Gates are scheduled to open Saturday at 4 p.m. for bracket racers. Qualifying is set to begin at 5 p.m. with eliminations at 7:30. Admission on Saturday evening is $10 for adults and $5 for seniors, military and high school students with a valid ID. Children 12 and under are free. The entry fee for competitors is $40.
