Top Five Finish for #37 Dexter and Team GLOCK in Canada

Dexter Bean and Team GLOCK finished fourth in the Cayuga ARCA RE/MAX 250 from Cayuga Motor Speedway on Sunday, June 29th. With this finish, he raced his way into the top 10 in the ARCA RE/MAX Series driver's points standings. Dexter had never raced at the track before, but his crew crief and Team owner, Jeff Spraker of Spraker Racing Enterprises had some experience at the track 25 years ago when he was running in the ARCA Series.

Dexter qualified third on Saturday with a lap time of 20.513 and speed of 109.686 which was his personal best start in the 2008 season. After practice and qualifying, Dexter had a feel for the unique .625 mile short track. "This is a different type of racetrack. There are a lot of bumps it is not your common track. The more laps and the more changes we made, the better the track felt as I negotiated the unique features. There is not a flat spot on the track."

The start of the race was delayed for 30 minutes due to the rainy conditions and the drying of the track. During lap 67 pitstop, Dexter received four tires and a track bar adjustment to the #37 GLOCK Chevrolet. Some of the cars on the lead lap did not pit during the caution and Dexter went back out in the 12th position, but was running as fast as the leaders who were in clean air while Dexter was tied up in lap traffic.

Around lap 135, Dexter was trying to make it past a tangle between three cars when he was hit by one of them that shot up from the bottom of the track into the left rear of the Team GLOCK Chevrolet. Dexter spun a bit and just missed hitting the turn two wall. He was able to keep it all together and get the car going in enough time to end up back in the 10th position. He was running in seventh when the incident took place and the damage was minor enough that Team GLOCK elected to keep the car on the track and not pit.

Again on lap 236, Dexter was hit from behind coming out of turn four. This caused him to spin and just nearly miss the wall. Dexter was able to keep the rest of the field from passing him when the incident took place and remained in the fourth position. Team GLOCK once again decided not to pit to keep their prime position at the front of the pack. Dexter held the fourth position in the race as he crossed the finish line on lap 257. "It is a rough track. The only pieces left on the car are the roof and the trunk. Overall, it was a great points day and a good first appearance in Canada for Team GLOCK," said Dexter.

Owner Jeff Spraker comments, "We were a force to be reckoned with from the drop of the green - Dexter did a great job of staying in contention all day and he made a super run at the leaders towards the end. This is our fourth consecutive top ten finish - I'm really proud of Dexter, our team and our over-the-wall guys - they all did a great job. We work hard at the shop to prepare good equipment and that effort is really paying off. Now we have momentum on our side and we're looking forward to Kentucky in a few weeks!"

Dexter also earned the Accel Fastest Lap of the race with the top average speed of 107.138 and Jeff Spraker received the Cometic Crew Chief of the race.
