David Ragan will kick off a racing triple-header in Indianapolis, Ind., this week with a 100-lap late model race at Lucas Oil Raceway. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver will race his No. 77 Skuttle Tight Ford in the ARCA/CRA Super Series on Friday night at the .686-mile oval.
The event will mark Ragan's first time racing a late model at the 54-year-old facility just six miles west of Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS). He has two NASCAR Nationwide Series and two NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts at the asphalt short track, including a Truck Series pole (2006).
The ARCA/CRA Super Series event starts at 7 p.m. Friday. Ragan will then compete in Saturday's NASCAR Nationwide Series event at IMS and Sunday's Sprint Cup Series race at the historic speedway.
"I like Lucas Oil Raceway. It's a great little racetrack with a lot of history and a lot of fun to race on. I've got a pole from the Truck series and some good runs in the Nationwide series there, so we'll see if we can go have another good run at it in our Skuttle Tight Ford on Friday night," Ragan said. "I like doing four or five of these races every year. We work on our own cars out of my shop in North Carolina and just go racing for fun the way I grew up racing. Of course, the competitor in me always wants to win, but as long as we run hard, run all 100 laps and put on a good show for the fans, it'll be a good night."
