Tim Russell's Daytona Race Ends Four Laps Early
Hagans Racing Rinnai No. 9 Fast All Weekend but Was Denied a Strong Finish

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (February 11, 2007) -- Tim Russell and the #9 Hagans Racing/Rinnai Dodge team look poised to bring home a solid top-five finish in Saturday's ARCA 200 at Daytona International Speedway. They had qualified in the sixth position and had been near the top of the speed charts with every practice. It was what looked to be shaping up as a very good weekend to start out the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series season..

When the race began, the No. 9 Rinnai Dodge was up front and looked ready strike. The first seventy laps went without incident. Russell was in the draft and working his way up through the field.

"All week long our Rinnai Dodge was good," said Russell. "We had a good qualifying spot, good practices and what was looking to be a good race."

Then on lap 76 of the 80-lap feature, it just took one wrong move by another competitor to end that good weekend and any chance for the win. Russell was working his way into the top-five when another competitor came down into the #9 machine's quarter panel and sent Russell hard into the wall.

Russell was able to exit the car under his own power but the Rinnai Dodge Charger was done for the day.

"It was a hard hit, but I am okay," said Russell. "I just really want to thank Matt Hagans and his team, and Rinnai for this opportunity. The ole' Rinnai Dodge, We had that thing going. It was going to be a good race for us. We fell out of the draft a little bit early in the race, but we were able to get back in it and we were just biding our time for those last few laps.

"We worked our way back up into the top-six, and we were looking for a good top-five finish, but an unfortunate incident just took us out. I hate it for these guys, they work so hard but we will be back at Talladega with this car and even before that we will take a different car to Lakeland (USA International Speedway), and we will be stronger than ever there.

Despite not getting the finish that the Hagans Racing Rinnai Team deserved, owner Matt Hagans was pleased with the effort that Tim Russell put forth for the team.

"Tim did a great job driving, "said Matt Hagans. "There was nothing that he could have done to avoid that incident. He was right where he needed to be. I am just really glad that he is okay."

The team will get their chance to rebound from their disappointing ending at Daytona next month when the ARCA RE/MAX Series heads to USA International Speedway in Lakeland, Florida on Saturday, March 24th 2007.
