ERIN CROCKER TO MAKE ARCA DEBUT AT MICHIGAN INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY IN No. 98 AUTO VALUE/BUMPER-TO-BUMPER DODGE
Celebration Trading Inc./The Windbreaker Apparel Company Makes First Run as Associate Sponsor in ARCA
STATESVILLE, NC (June 14, 2005) -- Evernham Motorsports driver Erin Crocker will make her second start in the ARCA Re/MAX series this weekend at Michigan International Speedway. She will be driving the No. 98 Auto Value/Bumper-to-Bumper Dodge for Evernham Motorsports. Crocker will run chassis No. 037, which she put on the pole at Nashville Speedway in her ARCA debut.
Crocker, 24, has shown great promise in the Evernham Motorsports driver development program. She tested at Michigan International Speedway with veteran Bill Elliott just last week. In her first start at Nashville Speedway, Crocker took the pole and led 28 laps before spinning and ending the day running 12th.
This weekend, she will pilot Evernham Motorsports' ARCA series Dodge on the two-mile oval speedway under the guidance of Ray Evernham and team director Chris Andrews. She will run several additional ARCA races this season, and will make her NASCAR Busch Series debut later this season. She also will compete in the USAC Silver Crown Series in a car fielded by Kasey Kahne Racing.
Erin Crocker on Testing
"The Michigan test went really well. I had never been on a two-mile track. It was big and fast, but I had a good teacher in Bill Elliott. I put down some good lap times. I'm excited to have Auto Value Bumper-to-Bumper as our sponsor. After going out to Nashville, I'm just excited to get back in the car.
"That Monday I got to watch Bill testing all day, so that just gave me an idea of lines and what to expect. Monday afternoon he took me out there in a rental car. We made a few laps, to show me braking points and lines and different things. And then it was kind of, go out there and learn on your own... After a few times I came in and he was like, 'Well, I think you'll be fine. You just need to get laps. You're obviously fast enough, but it's just a matter of getting in traffic,' because it's always easier to do it when you're out there by yourself."
