EN ROUTE TO HISTORICAL CHAMPIONSHIP KIMMEL EARNS CAREER-FIRST SUPERSPEEDWAY WIN AT TALLADEGA

Talladega, AL (October 7, 2006) -- While many drivers battling for a championship will focus on consistent finishes and conservative runs to ensure a solid points run, Frank Kimmel and his Pork Racing team went into the Food World 250 at the Talladega Superspeedway with only one goal and that was to win. Kimmel and the Tri-State Motorsports team had never won on a superspeedway and felt like they had put together the best possible combination in order to achieve that goal this weekend. While the 2006 ARCA RE/MAX Series Championship was still in on the team's mind, an emotional Kimmel could not believe that in his 321st career ARCA start, he had finally made it to victory lane at the Talladega Superspeedway.

"This was just an awesome evening for our entire team," said Kimmel. "Everyone worked so hard to get ready for this race and after the test session we really felt like this would be one of our best chances to win one of these superspeedway races. While we knew we needed to come out of Talladega with a solid finish, we were all really focused on winning the race ahead of everything else. Winning this race just means everything to me and I really have to thank Mike Wallace for helping me to the front. He really worked with me in the draft all night and when I was able to get to the front, he was the one that pushed me up past the pack on the outside. But our whole team did a great job and to win here at Talladega is definitely one of the greatest moments in my ARCA career."

By winning the Food World 250, Kimmel extends his championship point lead to 300 points (unofficially via ARCA) and will be able to secure his historical eighth ARCA RE/MAX Series Championship by simply arriving at the Iowa Speedway for next weekend's Prairie Meadows 250. But Kimmel was able to secure his fifth Hoosier Tire Superspeedway Challenge Championship by 25 points over Gerhart with his Talladega win.

"I am just amazed that we were still able to earn the Superspeedway Challenge Championship," said Kimmel. "We had quite a bit of bad luck on some of the speedways this season with blown tires and other on-track incidents, but at other tracks we were able to battle back and earn wins at Pocono and Kansas. I think we have shown ourselves to be a true championship team this season by overcoming a lot of things and still battle back to win at a track like Talladega."

Kimmel's Talladega win marks his fourth victory of the 2006 season and 68th ARCA RE/MAX career victory. The final race of the 2006 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule will take place on Sunday, October 15 at the brand new Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa. The race will be televised live on SPEED at 2:30pm ET.
