Feasterville, PA driver Kevin Belmont and veteran car owner James Hylton of Inman, South Carolina announced their plans to join forces for the entire 2002 ARCA RE/MAX series. The Ford Taurus fleet will carry Hylton's #48 when the team makes their first start of the season at the Daytona International Speedway in February.

When asked about his chance to drive for Hylton, a former NASCAR Winston Cup Rookie of the Year and three time runner-up in Winston Cup Points, Belmont had this to say, "This is the greatest opportunity I have ever had in racing. James has a lot of experience as a driver and a car owner. His team finished eighth in ARCA points last year and I finished eleventh. I think that if we keep out of trouble and finish races we could be a solid top five team this year."

It is no secret that James Hylton knows how to finish in the top five in points. In 1966 Hylton was the NASCAR Winston Cup (at that time it was known as the Grand National Series) Rookie of the year and finished second in point to David Pearson. On two other occasions Hylton finished second in point to Richard Petty.

In his first season as a driver, Kevin Belmont finished eleventh in ARCA RE/MAX series points. Belmont started the season as a crew chief for the America Online team driven by his brother Andy Belmont. Kevin would qualify for the event and pull off the speedway after taking the green so that he could assume his position as crew chief. At the events where Kevin raced the full race he did manage a career best 10th place finish at Memphis Motorsports Park along with a 14th at Atlanta and a 22nd at Talladega. He kept his nose clean and finished races. That was enough to impress James Hylton as the two will make their assault on the ARCA RE/MAX series and try to win their first race as a team in 2002.

The ARCA RE/MAX series celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2002 and it should be an exciting year. Speed Channel will carry eleven races this year with Fox Sports Net picking up four events. Ten of the eleven events carried on the Speed Channel will be aired live.

Belmont and Hylton are looking forward to the upcoming season. Sponsorship for the team is still in question, but the team is going to run every race on the ARCA schedule as they make their bid for the ARCA RE/MAX series point championship.
