OWENS RETURNS

Alli Owens returns to ARCA RE/MAX Series competition for the first time since being involved in a motorcycle accident in March. The 19-year-old Daytona Beach, Fla. native suffered several broken bones and wasn't expected to recover in time to compete in the Prairie Meadows 250 at Iowa Speedway.

As been typical of Owens throughout her career, she completed a task quicker than expected. "When the doctor told me that I might miss Iowa I thought no way," said Owens, driver of the No. 12 ElectrifyingCareers.com Chevrolet. "I focused all my energy on recovery. I worked as hard as I could with my trainer and followed my doctor's orders and everything worked out. I feel great."

While recovering, Owens missed out on valuable testing time. The series held several open test sessions, all of which she was scheduled to participate in. Unable to attend, Owens 'tested' at those tracks in a different way. "I watched all the previous ARCA races at Iowa and Kansas," explained Owens. "I know it can't replace actual seat time but I learned a lot about race strategy, tire wear and the other drivers."

Owens has never competed at Iowa Speedway. Her goal this weekend is simple. "I want to finish," said Owens. "Our program didn't get too far off the ground in Daytona. We were out early and it didn't give the team very much time to work together. We are looking to be consistent throughout this race and put ourselves in a position for a solid finish."

On April 18, Owens will sign autographs and meet fans from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino. Located in Altoona, Prairie Meadows is one of Iowa's premier entertainment facilities. "This is my first time in Iowa and I'm glad I get this chance to meet the fans and all the local NECA and IBEW members," said Owens. It's thanks to all of them and their support that I get to race."

On April 15, Alli Owens and the ElectrifyingCareers.com team spent the day testing at USA International Speedway in Lakeland, Fla. It was the first time Owens had been behind the wheel of the No. 12 Chevrolet since February at Daytona "I was so pumped to get back in the car," said Owens. "We ran consistent laps throughout the test and I was very comfortable. We are using the same car in Iowa so I know what to expect." In addition to on track testing, Owens spent time practicing pit stops. "The pit stop practice was for me, not the crew," said Owens. "As a rookie in this series, I'm new to making pit stops. I practiced coming in out of the pits and now I'm much better prepared."

CALIFORNIA, HERE SHE COMES - Following the Prairie Meadows 250, Alli Owens will head to Santa Maria, Calif. for two days to speak to young people at four area high schools and one college about living a focused life and following a positive life plan. "The CA Central Coast Chapter of NECA, one of my sponsors, asked me to come out to participate in several career days," said Owens. "It's great that I get the chance to speak to young people and show them that if you follow your dreams, you can be successful."
