Joey Miller Returns To Site Of Biggest Win (So Far)

19-Year-Old Heads Back To Nashville, But Doesn'T Get Too Wound Up

LAKEVILLE, MN (March 23, 2005) -- As Joey Miller heads to the site of his biggest racing accomplishment to date, winning his first ARCA start ever at Nashville Superspeedway last August, you would expect the driver of the #9 Country Joe Homes/Hagans Racing Dodge to be bouncing off the walls. But Miller isn't the type to get too excited. Instead, he chooses to focus on the job that he has ahead of him.

"I just go and do what I need to do," said Miller. "I don't try to get too pumped up. It's just like being the mailman. He doesn't get keyed up everyday to do his job. He just does it and does it well. That is what I try and do."

Part of that job was to go out and test at the facility recently. Miller was among the fastest cars on the speed charts and his team came away from the test with plenty of data. But he still didn't get too excited.

"The car felt pretty good out there," Miller said after the test. "After the day was over and all was said and done, we had a good test and learned a lot."

Returning to Nashville is a little bit out of the ordinary for Miller.

"It's a little different going to a track where I have won at before," said Miller. "But it's still just another racetrack. I am looking forward to getting on the track again after coming off a month without any racing."

The last race that Miller competed in was the ARCA opener at Daytona where he ran in the lead pack all day, got spun with a few laps to go and recovered to finish seventh. Going from the Superspeedway to the mid-sized track at Nashville is an adjustment for him.

"It's like going from Bristol to Cedar Rapids (Hawkeye Downs Speedway in Iowa) in one race," said Miller. "Compared to Daytona, this track is flat. It's so flat, I had to hold my head up against the headrest during testing."

"I like going to a track where you can actually wheel a racecar," continued Miller. "It makes it more interesting out there."

And Miller hopes to wheel that car better than anyone else in the starting field once again.

"We're going to Nashville to win," said Miller. "And we know that we can do that after last year. But I'm not going to get too excited either. If second or third is what we are given, that is what we will take."

The PFG Lester 150 will take place on Saturday, March 26th. It will be televised LIVE on Speed Channel at 1:30pm ET.
