TALE OF TWO RACES FOR SCOTT AT KENTUCKY: WINS POLE AND POSTS TOP 5 IN ARCA CONTEST BUT BATTLES ADVERSITY IN TRUCK SERIES TILT

Sparta, KY (July 19, 2008) -- It was a tale of divergent results for Brian Scott this weekend at Kentucky Speedway. Scott earned his career first ARCA RE/MAX Series SIM Factory Pole Award Friday afternoon at Kentucky Speedway, circling the 1.5-mile track in 30.645 seconds for a speed of 176.211. He followed that up with a strong 5th place finish Friday night in the ARCA RE/MAX Series 150, rallying from 28th place after being spun by another competitor midway through the event. In Saturday night's Built Ford Tough 225 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series clash Scott suffered a blown engine on lap 67 and finished a disappointing 32nd.

Scott started his weekend off right with a stellar lap in qualifying for the ARCA event. His No. 25 Albertsons Chevrolet was clearly the class of the field.

"I know it's only two laps but it's important because it gave us a great start for the ARCA RE/MAX Series race," said Scott. "It was kind of nostalgic because I made my first ARCA start right her e at Kentucky Speedway last year. Venturini Motorsports has been a great team to work with and we plan to team up for five more ARCA starts this year. The Albertsons Chevrolet Monte Carlo was almost perfect in qualifying, it drove great."

When the green flag fell Scott bolted out to an early lead and held that advantage for the first 13 laps until being passed by Ricky Stenhouse on lap 14. Scott maintained his top two spot until a pit stop for four tires and fuel on lap 27. After another pit stop on lap 48 Scott was sitting pretty with four fresh tires, enough fuel to make it to the end and the fastest car on the track. As he was making his way back to the front he was spun out on lap 53 by the out of control Ford driven by Stenhouse. Scott was forced to pit to replace his flat-spotted tires and fell back to 28th. Over the last third of the race Scott made a spirited charge through the pack, picking up an impressive 23 positions and finishing with a strong 5th place finish.

"It was disappointing because we had a car that could have won the race," Scott said after the event. "We were right where we wanted to be with fresh tires and a great car. We just got spun out and had to regroup. I can't say enough about the guys on this team. It was truly a team effort, all the guys from our Xpress Motorsports pit crew and the entire Venturini Motorsports team blended together to give us a great car and great pit stops. We're going to win one of these things pretty soon."

Scott Speed won the ARCA RE/MAX Series 150. Sean Caisse, Justin Allgaier, Frank Kimmel and Scott rounded out the top five.

Scott's NCTS results were a little more frustrating. After struggling in practice Scott spun in qualifying and was forced to go to a backup truck. As a result his No. 16 Albertsons Chevrolet started shotgun in the field in the 36th position. After battling a loose chassis for the first third of the event the motor let go and he was relegated to a 32nd place finish.
